Cooper Tire Reviews
From May of 2006 to Oct 2018 (when I sold the truck) I went through two sets of these on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. I rarely drive more then 10,000 miles a year, but after my first set, I knew that I would purchase these again. When I purchased my used 2006 RAM in July 2017, it had a pair of Goodyear's on it that never seemed to track right. So when it was time to get a new set of rubber, these Cooper's were on the top of my list. If I still have the truck in a few years, and it comes time to replace the tires again, the Cooper AT3's will be my pick again.
Love these AT3 tires. I'd like to buy a new set before winter due to having 65,000 on these but they are still 40%. Mainly highway miles but how long do these things last?
Great tire love the quality and looks.
Never Again they cant take gravel 70 kms of gravel 4 times per week. I only got 35000 kms also 2 flats and several small leaks
The Cooper DISCOVERER A/T3 is a great tire. Great traction and durability! They ride smooth and road noise is very minimal. I am very please with these tires and will definitely buy them again.
I have purchased 4 sets of these tires over the past 5 years. When you drive 45,000+ miles a year, you definitely want the best quality and bang for the buck. These tires deliver. My last set had 88,000 miles on them and had at least another 25000 miles before hitting the wear blocks! Well worth the money! Just be sure to rotate every 5K-6K miles.
In the first few thousand miles, the tread warped and from then on these tires screamed down the road. Not good in the snow or rain. 30,000 miles later they're done! Would definitely not buy again.
I had them on my 2011 Ram 1500. They were great in all weather conditions. I got 50,000 miles out of them. Great tires
These tires can't handle the weight of a big truck. They wear terrible and they are noisy as hell. Won't be buying these again
GREAT TIRES! Got them Summer of 2015, run about 1200 miles a month. Very little wear, these will last a long time. Goes fantastic in any kind of weather or mud!
Have purchased several sets of this tire for different trucks. Reasonable price, long wear, very good in snow for plowing.
These were great tires! Looked awesome, handled well, gripped well, etc. Then they started leaking air within 15k. Subsequently, tread started to wear. Still, solid tires, ran great, couldn't complain otherwise. Then, within maybe 5k of each other (at about 40k), two tires both blew -- major, unpatchable failures with broken cords. Strong start, disappointing finish. Since then, I've talked to two friends who have had the same issues with the lighter-grade tires. However, a friend who put 10-plys on his F-450 still loves the tires and has had no trouble whatsoever. Hence a thoroughly mixed review -- love the performance to a point, and 2/5 stars for if I would buy them again. Even as I sit debating which tires my truck should be shod with next, the Discoverers still look good -- waiting for the second chance...
Good A/T tire. With only a few thousand miles on them, the ice traction is decent, but the snow traction is excellent. Quiet ride for the tread pattern. Replaced OEM Bridgestone Dueler A/T's which was a very nice A/T tire with much more economical rolling resistance, so I regret that I have lost close to 2 mpg. Not a great thing for a daily driver.
Some of the stars above I cannot technically comment on, but was afraid by not doing so would detract for the score on the tire. Today, in snow, the AT3s impressed me. The OEM Continental Contitrac tires on my SuperDuty got me stuck on wet grass, mud, and even the thought of a light snowfall. I was so disgusted with the Contitracs that I thought about going extreme, getting STT's - but I just couldn't afford them. My dealer had a deal going on AT3s and I thought the value was too good not to try. Today was the test. About 3 inches of cold snow on the ground, some bladed into 8-9" humps around my driveway. My SotF 4wd wouldn't engage while trying to pull my 20' livestock trailer. I needed to back it into a spot. These tires never slipped in 2wd, even over the humps of piled snow. I have SRWs and was a little worried about carrying capacity. I've hauled a 17,000 lb tractor with a 10,000 lb tandem gooseneck and my SRWs handled it wonderfully, even with having air pressure issues due to the installation of passenger car tire valvestems (all rubber - since corrected). The tires have me very impressed.
Absolutely love them. So glad I made this purchase. We have ice, snow, rain and have had no problem driving at all. Not noisy either. I love them so much that my grand-daughter has an older version, same car and we are putting them on her car for the winter. 1 SUGGESTION, PLEASE MAKE THEM IN 18" TIRE SO MY DAUGHTER COULD PUT ON HER CAR.
Got 110k miles on two sets of AT/3s. BEST wet traction of any brand I've owned. excellent tires!
Purchased these tires 2 months ago and all I can say so far is AWESOME! I have yet to try them in snow being it's only early October here in Wisconsin we haven't see snow yet. They are very quiet at all speeds and have absolutely no complaints.
I wont put any other tires on my truck. I still have at least 35% tire tread left on them and I bought them in 2006.
Been through a lot of tires in my day and the Discoverer A/T3 were the best performing all season tire I have ever owned. From wet to snow to dry pavement even some off road. The A/T3 performed. They're not an aggressive looking tire but can't beat them. Also I do a lot of Highway miles so even though you can go off road ....on road they are very quiet and great for a family SUV
I just purchased my 3rd set of A/T3 tires. Absolutely the best tire I have bought.
Tread did not last as advertised.
I just replaced the only Goodyear tires (Wrangler Silent Armors) I've ever liked on my Jeep. I got 80,000 perfect miles out of them. I would have bought another set, but they have become outrageous in price. I researched the heck out of a decent 30/9.5/15 replacement and found that for the wrangler, this is a tire of choice amongst the forum groups...mine happens to be bone-stock. I left the dealer with a brand new inch of wet sleet and 22 degrees. I was traveling 50 mph when I realized, that I wasn't in 4WD. All I can say is wow...if that was the first impression of what to expect, then I'm sold on these. I noticed significantly more steering feedback right off the bat and have since run 70+mph down my usual two lane. I'm not exaggerating here...these tires are 50% quieter than the wranglers. I'll leave periodic updates moving forward. I rotate every 5,000 so we'll keep updating incrementally.
These Coopers have worn EXTREMELY well and have performed outstandingly.
Just put a new set on my Silverado. I was worried about the tread noise but very surprised that there is very little. The truck has never driven so nice!!
My dad put these tires on the Escape at 100,000mi before giving me his Escape at 110,000mi. I have had it now for 5 years and it has 167,000mi on it. These tires have lasted a long time including during our NJ bad winters that we have had over the years. They have done great in all weather conditions, especially in the snow. It is now time for me to get new ones on my Escape. Even though I have been a Goodyear fan since I was 17, at 44 years old I have to say that I have now changed my mind to Cooper tires. Especially this type of tire. Even though there are tons of tire companies and models out there, Cooper in my eyes has come up with a great model that is absolutely perfect for any SUV or light truck. It does the job in getting you there in safety and in comfort. Will recommend this tire to everyone that I know that needs new ones.
Great tire at a great price.
All around good tire. I do have some trouble with air leaking between 3-7 psi every month though.
Very good tire so far, have had them on for over 2 months.
OMG I love my new tires!!! So much better than the Firestones I had on previously.
I was looking to replace my tires on this vehicle, with a little more aggressive tread. However, I didn't want a rough ride, or the "howl" of highway noise of an All-Terrain tire. The Cooper Discoverer A/T3 was a great answer. I went and "up-sized" the tires, to fill the wheel wells of my '06 Nissan Murano, to a 265/60/R18 size, with the factory alloys. What a sharp SUV! The tires totally made the Murano look athletic, with the white letters smiling at me. The D-A/T3's handle well in normal conditions, and really show their stuff when the snow falls. Traction is superior in the snow. 2-3 years of great tire performance and wear, I will be getting Coopers again in a couple of years. My other vehicle is a '98 Toyota 4Runner and has the original Cooper Discoverer ATR's. They are great, but Cooper designed these A/T3's to exceed! Thanks to you Cooper!!
I researched many different all-terrain tires and even cruised parking lots taking my own survey from the owners about how they liked their tires. After having these installed I've driven in more snow than ever before in my life - up to 16" on our private road which doesn't get plowed regularly. These tires will not spin at all unless you're on glare ice. During a storm I can pull over into an unplowed lot with over 12" of snow, get out to clear the ice from my wipers and start right up without spinning, driving through 20" plus snow piles to get back on the roadway. BUY THESE IF YOU WANT GOOD SNOW TRACTION!! They're also very quiet on bare pavement at highway speeds. I could not be happier with these tires!!
Great all around tire. Excellent off road and snow traction with good road manners. Worth the money!
I loved these tries. 10,0000 on them from driving from NC to MD.
Have had the tires for almost a year. Almost at 20,000 miles and love them. No complaints.
I'm a Cooper tire fan, and the AT3 is another great tire!!!
Very good tire. Reasonably priced. I've got around a thousand miles on these tires and not a bit of wear. They also have been great in the snow. I hardly even have to use 4 wheel drive.
HAD THESE ON MY LAST WRANGLER AND THEY KICKED BUTT...LOVE THEM!!
Great tires! I drive over 100 miles a day with my job and on multiple occasions in snow, sleet, heavy rain, and these tires always handle great. I was able to get a little over 50k out of my first set and currently have 37k on my second set and they still have really good tread. Whenever these wear down, I will put a third set on. Great tires, great quality, great product.
So far they have done a great job.
I would buy again.
Great tire. This is my 2nd set. I work in the gas field and they work great on the road I drive on.
The Cooper A/T's look good and ride even better.
Best tires I have had.
NICE TIRES. GOOD TRACTION. NO ROAD HUMMING.
Just bought my 2nd set of AT3s this morning. Got 64,000 out of the 1st set!! Best truck tire on the road. With these tires, I have no fear of standing water on the highway. They ride and handle great and are very quiet for an aggressive all terrain. Also have to say I had zero problems with the last set, never let me down.
I purchased a set of 4. We use our truck to haul horses to shows, and I got really good off/road and interstate wear.. Going to purchase my second set of 4 this week.. These are really good quality tires with low road noise which is a big plus...
Definitely a good quality tire at a decent price.
Great tire. Def worth the buy and the rebate I received was a great perk too.
Would buy again. Had no issues with all 4 after getting them.
Nice tire. I noticed immediate improvement when driving in the winter from the Firestone Destination LE's. Will buy Cooper again.
These tires are great highway and city tires, but will also help you through the gravel and mud when you need them to. Snow can be a little white knuckled so I would still recommend winter tires for long winters.
I purchased 4 of those for my truck and all I can say is WOW. The ride is smooth and quiet. I have a totally reliable truck now. I can't yet speak for the snow as it is all melted now this time of year. But definitely and without hesitation I am recommending those tires to anyone who drive on paved and gravel roads. AWESOME product.
These are great tires! They handle really well and are the best value. My truck looks better than when I bought it!
Love these tires! Had them for a year now and they have been through tons of weather and off-roading and did great in ALL conditions. They even still look brand new besides a few scrapes on the sidewalls. Will definitely be getting another set when the time comes.
Excellent tires, all 6 of them. I bought them for my Ford Class C Coachman motor home. SMOOTH!!!! I purchased them in GA on my trip down to Florida from Michigan. Excellent handling, quiet, aggressive tread design. I feel very safe!!!!
Love these tires.
Great wearing tire. I would buy again.
Absolutely love the tires!!! Surprisingly not loud for all terrain tires. I would recommend for any SUV/truck. Extremely versatile.
Great tires they have met all my expectations so far. I have already recommended them to my friends and family.
I have to say that these have been the best tires overall that I have put on this truck. There is about 50% tread left and I have had no problems this far. The noise level wasn't bad either. I have been liking cooper for a while now and these just put me over the top with them.
Great service-- in and out fast. Will buy all tires from this shop.
I've gone thru many winter tires over the last 10 years on my truck. The Cooper AT3s have worn the best, and in doing so, helped me get thru the most winters of all other brands I have purchased. The icing on the cake is that they are great looking tires too.
Excellent dry and wet traction. The cornering stability/steering response is much better then what came on the truck from the factory. Snow traction is good for not being a snow tire. So far I am very impressed with the amount of miles I have on the tires and how much they have worn. I will be buying these again for my next set of truck tires.
Would buy again, great tire in snow and water. Very low road noise compared to tread.
The best tires I have ever bought and will buy again for my truck. They do really good off and on the road. I have had them for about 3 years and still have a good amount of tread on them.
Great!
Had these put on my truck, 2/8/14. So far they are real smooth and made my truck a little smoother at highway speeds. Snowed this morning and I didn't need 4X4 very good in snow. Would buy again.
These are actually on a 2000 Silverado z71ext cab. Very great tires, handle mud, snow, rain, everything. I've had them on the truck for 5 years and 88k miles later it's finally time for some new ones. And yes this is what will be going back on it. I have no complaints on these. I've seen people complain about road noise but these do not have much road noise. If you think it's too much you should probably buy a car. Best all terrain tire out there.
This has been a great tire. We live in the country, using dirt roads equal to hwy use. This tire has been great to handle all forms of weather & road conditions.
Good tire, just can't wait for some mud and snow.
I had these AT/3s installed and I've only had them a day. Road noise is very minimal and grip seams great. The shop had me in and out within a half hour. I am overly impressed with their speedy service. This is my second set of cooper tires, I will definitely be back again.
I work for an underground utilities company outside of Austin and we have 10+ company trucks. I am getting prices together to submit to the main office. I want to find a tire dealer that will make us the best deal when we need to purchase tires.
These tires are on a F-250 but trucks don't exist on the vehicle options.
Had these 2 times. I've tried others, but I like these best for all around performance.
First set of new tires from the stock Toyo tires. Surprising how huge a difference there is. Got the AT3's right in the middle of a storm. So the return home gave them a good test. Feels more stable, more grip on the road, less road noise, increased height from the ground (old tires were bald), huge treads, and feels much more secure. Driving on wet roads felt fine with no worry for slipping. Steering felt a little looser which may change with more use. Dry traction I'm sure will be immense with these treads. Only thing that came up was when there was thick packed snow and I was going ~20 mph and stopped abruptly (testing tires) it did slide a bit. Not much as they grabbed through after a little ways, but some sliding. All in all, I'm glad I went with these. Price was amazing, tires themselves look/work great. Steering wheel seems a bit off, but I'll test it more within the next couple days. Would highly recommend to SUV owners who don't want "winter" tires and don't trust "all-weather" tires in ice and snow.
Great traction tire and even tread wear.
Great tire for the money. Looks and handles great and the wider size makes the factory wheel/tire combination look and ride a lot better. Really fits the wheel well good in the Astro/Safari vans.
Awesome tire, would buy over and over again. Why pay for high dollar tires when you can have these that last longer? I have 44,000 miles on them and they still have tread left.
Great looking tire. Quiet ride. Hope to get snow this winter so I can try them out.
These tires are great! I've put them through the test in rain and they grip! In the mud, they grip! We've only had a little snow but the 3" we did have, the tires gripped! No road noise, comfortable ride, aggressive looking, and just an all around good tire.
Mileage and wear of tires was a little disappointing. Good all around tire but not a great tire for snow and mud. Great highway tire with little road noise.
Great tire for the $. Good off road tire without the hum noise. Great in snow while pulling a trailer. Have had them on my truck in the past and still very happy after 30,000 mi. Great tread life.
I placed these tires on my truck which gets a wide variety of use. I have placed a 2.5" leveling kit on the front end, which raises the center of gravity a bit. I do a moderate amount of highway and city driving, a fair amount of towing a 32' camper, a 15,000# work trailer and random in-bed work loads. Overall, these tires preformed better then expected. They far out performed other "Brand" tires in the same class. My tires are inflated to 70 p.s.i. which does great at heavy loads and towing! This pressure/tire combination makes city driving a little bumpy, but then again I drive a big truck. Snow, mud, and off-road traction is pleasantly surprising. I have had these tires in the dirt and snow more than once and they have yet to let me down! Side wall 'play' is noticeable, but I feel it is well within normal ranges based on the size of the tire and my specific application. I would recommend these tires for anyone looking for a "all round", all-season tire!
I love my Cooper Tires. Without a doubt will buy them again. Recommended them to my mother who also bought a set and is very happy. I have confidence while driving no matter what the weather may be. I feel very safe using these tires. I would tell anyone to buy Cooper. Thanks Cooper Tires!
I love my new tires and the price was very good for the tire that you get. They handle well in the rain and snow.
Huge upgrade over the previous A/T tires I had. I'm sold on Cooper Tires and will be putting the A/T3 on my other truck when it's due for new tires. Great handling, quiet, have yet to lose traction in the wet or dry. Slid a bit on hard pack snow/ice, but nothing that couldn't be anticipated and easily handled.
Tires hold up well, even with pulling a trailer all the time. Have 85,000 miles on mine and lots of wear left. Great on logging roads.
I own a 2011 Honda Element EX 4WD. I purchased 4 of these tires right before winter and they handled awesome at times in the snow. When the car direction is straight, they were amazing. However, they do not corner well in the snow or on wet surfaces. I have put about 23,000 hilly miles on the tires and I have a little less than half of the tread remaining. I probably will not purchase them again because once the tread starts to wear down the road noise (tire roar) is unbearable at 45mph and above -- TERRIBLE at highway speeds. When you have half the tread life remaining, uphill stop and start traction is iffy and the tires tend to squeal when turning. I also noticed my overall mpg decrease by about 2 miles per gallon in city driving compared to non-aggressive tires. The rubber compound they use is soft. I have had them repaired 4 times (which is 3 times more than any other tire I have owned) for punctures due to screws and nails. I don't off-road aside from the occasional gravel or dirt road every now and again. I bought them for look, loved them for the first 10,000 miles, but now I am looking elsewhere.
I didn't have a chance to try these in the winter, as I successfully sold my truck after installing them. But, when I bought them, they handled amazingly. I had a major problem with my truck shaking. Sure enough, once they were installed, the truck rode perfectly and the buyer was happy. Would definitely buy again!
great tire all around, comes with milage warranty and is a great tire on and off road. price for the tire isn't too high either.
All around a great tire. I have about 20,000 miles on them now and still have at least 75% tread life left. This is a tire that everyone should be able to get their money's worth out of.
255/65R17. 32-months and over 20,000 miles with minimal wear on my Jeep Commander 5.7 Quadradrive 2. Quiet on road and unflappable off-road. Run higher than OEM pressure of 38 psi as daily driver. In the dirt air down to 18 to 22 psi to tackle Eureka Dunes and a week in Death Valley including Steele Canyon, Hot Springs, Tea Kettle, Playa, Cerro Gordo, etc. Handles all terrain without issue; rocks, mud, sand, washboard, and loose scree. 1000s of miles off-road with no hiccups, wish I could post videos and photos. I have no issue with wear, if anything they're frustratingly long lasting as I'm anxious to move to a bigger size with a new suspension for clearance!
When I bought my truck used,it had 54k miles, had the dealer put a set of P275 60 R20s on. Had the truck almost 4 years and am at 102k on the odometer. Two tires are at the wear bars, other two have a bit more tread. Rotated the tires <10k intervals. Have increased it to every 4k last few times as the tread has worn down. I am planning on replacing in a few months as winter draws near. Tire has performed well over the life of the tires. Traction has been superb in wet/dry/snow. Tire is a 50k tire like most All Terrain. Prior set was a set of Firestone Destination AT and got about the same miles out of them. Am looking at the Cooper Discoverer SRX a 70k rated hwy tire, Cooper ATP, Hancock Dyna Pro AT, and perhaps Toyo AT2. Why can't a A/T tire be made to last up to 70k? Highway noise has increased now that two tires are at wear bars as you would expect. Guess I got the life out of the tire up to the warranty... I don't do much off highway driving other than some gravel travel at a minimum.
Bought these in November 2016 this is july 2017 tires are at 9/32 12 k miles i always thought cooper were good tires Will Not Buy Another ! unless cooper makes it right 12 k out of tires is ridiculous i still have some to go but not long,my 2009 f-150 2wd i use to take care of my mother and need good traction and tread for winter.
Attractive looking pattern. Pretty good traction on and off road. Pretty quiet. BUT: I got these tires for my 2008 Silverado 2500 Duramax. They were put on shortly after purchasing the truck almost 2 years ago at 118k with alignment done at the time of course. Routinely rotated and pressure checked(even though my truck has the tpms). Before last winter I took it for another alignment, had them do the rotation, and to get the steering system greased since I was working right near the shop and my garage had another vehicle parked in it being worked on and I was too busy. I just hit 140k. Currently my rears are at the point they would fail inspection, my fronts technically would pass, but barely. I was working in front of a tire shop today so I stopped in to shop around, looking at ratings and tread patterns. Twice I thought I found my new set based on the tread pattern and ratings, until the worker scrolled up and i seen they were COOPER. Unfortunately that was all they had in stock besides cheaper options. 22k out of what should of been a 60k tire. Load range E. LT265/75/16. Ironic thing is another gentleman came in behind me and was awaiting his turn to be serviced. He over heard me and the employees discussion about my current coppers and only having 22k and needing new tires, but wanting a similar style tire of quality. He came up and said he's in the same situation. He bought cooper A/T3s for I believe his f350 he stated. Had them on for a bit over 2 years. He wasn't sure of the miles on them but was under 30k. It seems almost like COOPER had a bad run on them at some point before me and the other patron bought them and me and him both paid a premium to find out we got them. I don't haul much. Occasionally my quad n dirtbike. Most of the miles are highway miles on asphalt. 7100 pound truck. No reason for me to only get a third of the life I paid for out of these tires.
This is my second set of AT3s. First set was on chevy Tahoe. They looked great and lasted quite awhile. New set is on 2014 F150. Gave the 2wd truck a much better aggressive look. Couldn't be more pleased.
Overall a good tire but was at 3/32 before 35,000 miles. I rotated them myself which apparently voids any sort of mileage warranty. Had to replace all four before 40,000.
I put a set of 265/75/16 A/T3s on my Chevrolet K1500 at 161,000 miles thinking they would be the last set before the truck died. At 267,000 miles I replaced the A/T3s. I probably could have gotten another 5,000 miles out of them, but I was about to put 4,000 miles on them on a hunting trip out west. Yep, I got 106,000 miles out of one set, the tire dealer I buy from did a double take on the work orders mileages. It pays to rotate every 5,000 miles, check the tire pressure often, and don't abuse your equipment. I use the truck for commuting, towing my boat or camper and for off road hunting. Waiting to see which wears out first- the tires or the truck.
Had the Discover A/T3's on my Jeep Liberty for 5+ years. Only put 24,000 miles on these tires. At first they seemed decent but was disappointed with snow traction. Tread would cake. They seemed to get more noisy the more the tread wore down. The last couple of years would have to add air to tires on a weekly basis. Had two flats in the past year. Do not recommend. These have been replaced with General Grabber AT2's. I do have have a set of Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires on my Mustang and I like them. Disappointed with the Discoverer AT/3's.
Put a set on my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee and now she fearlessly blasts through standing water on the freeway...couldn't do this with the Wranglers. So impressed with the traction and quite, I put a set on my Toyota Landcruiser and we've had the same results! Buy these tires! Great set...great traction and very comfortable on and off-road.
Tire specifications and its visual design has proven itself for durability and rugged terrain driving. Very quiet a smooth driving quality.
